This online, four-course certificate
program, offered in partnership with the Education Development
Center, provides capacity-building professional development for
organizations to provide online learning programs for teachers,
administrators and students.
The effective learning community model upon which this program is
built provides professional development for K-12 school districts, state
departments of education, colleges, universities and other educational
organizations whenever and wherever needed. Using a train-the-trainer
approach, the program builds your organizational capacity to deliver
online courses to teachers and students, to integrate technology into
curriculum, and to increase teacher knowledge in the core content areas.
Participants
become part of a national learning community working to impact
student achievement. This professional development program is standards-based
and meets the goals of the "No Children Left Behind Act."
This program is designed for teachers and administrators who work in K-12 schools and districts, state departments of education, colleges and universities and regional educational service providers.
Program Outcomes
At the end of the certificate program, you are able to:
- Identify the most important recent development in educational technology and online learning.
- Design and deliver two or more standards-based online course.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of online courses and programs for a target group of students in a content area.
- Use an asynchronous discussion tool to promote student participation and learning.
- Evaluate the benefits of an electronic portfolio assessment method.
- Design an online professional development program for teachers.
